CHARLOTTE, N.C., U.S.: Dentsply Sirona and the Pittsburgh-headquartered dental support organization (DSO) North American Dental Group (NADG) have agreed to extend a partnership related to digital imaging solutions. In a press release, Dr. Andrew Matta of NADG said that the new agreement will help the DSO to keep up to speed with the continuing evolution of dental care.

Under the agreement, dentists working in NADG’s 250 supported clinics, located in 15 U.S. states, will be given broader access to Dentsply Sirona’s technological solutions. The multinational dental manufacturer commented that these solutions will include the Primescan intraoral scanner, which will help NADG-affiliated dentists employ digital workflows for services such as the provision of SureSmile clear aligners and Atlantis custom abutments and guided dental implant surgery.

The tools will yield critical data points from clinical outcomes that will be leveraged to develop evidence-based standards that advance best-in-class oral care, according to the companies.

The decision to extend and expand the agreement was made by NADG’s doctor-led advisory board, the Professional Dental Alliance. The expanded agreement includes the foundation of an educational training platform, the content of which will be jointly delivered by industry experts and NADG-affiliated dentists, with support from Dentsply Sirona’s Clinical Accelerator programs.

Matta, NADG co-founder and chief medical officer, commented in the press release: “[We] are supporting our affiliated dentists to develop clear, evidence-based clinical standards which bolster our mission of delivering best-in-class oral care and a tremendous patient experience at every visit.”

He added: “Dentistry is evolving, and these digital solutions will aid us in further standardizing our clinical processes which will enable our supported doctors to provide advanced clinical excellence across our entire company.”

Eric Bruno, senior vice president of Dentsply Sirona’s North American regional commercial organization, commented: “We are very excited about the partnership with NADG to advance procedural workflows through a combination of differentiated equipment and consumables technologies with cutting edge clinical education and practice support programs.” He said that the extension of the partnership and the commitment to building on it were strong reflections of the company’s investment in oral health and its belief that dental care is essential.

In an interview with Dental Tribune International last year, Dentsply Sirona CEO Donald M. Casey commented that the company wanted to transform dental workflows through innovations such as its Primescan digital imaging system. “[We] want to transform dental workflows that span across diagnosis and treatment planning through to the treatment itself,” he said.
