COLOGNE, Germany: Straumann demonstrated that its focus is firmly on driving innovation in the dental industry, during a press conference held on Wednesday at the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne. In front of a packed house, several members of the company’s management team spoke about its developing into the global market leader in implant dentistry and how this position would be maintained.

Speaking first, CEO Marco Gadola highlighted that Straumann’s decision to expand its range of products has resulted in the company doubling its target market. “We have a portfolio of products and partnerships that facilitate a complete solution for any dentist,” he said. “Even so, there is massive potential for further growth, and Straumann is perfectly positioned to achieve this.”

Since 2012, Straumann’s product range has continually been developed so that it now offers chairside surgical guides, intra-oral scanners, 3-D printers, and tapered and ceramic implants, to name just a few. Frank Hemm, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Education at Straumann, emphasised that the company has not sacrificed any quality through these extensions, but has continued to improve and refine its offerings. The Straumann CARES C series chairside milling system, for example, is able to reduce grinding time by up to 60 per cent, and its PURE Ceramic implants are now available as one- or two-piece implants.

Petra Rumpf, Head of Instradent Management and Strategic Alliances, continued the topic of ceramic implants by presenting the upcoming Neodent Ceramic Solution line. These implants feature an all-ceramic abutment and will be available for single- and multi-tooth indications. They are designed for a high level of stability owing to their naturally tapered bone level implant body and represent Straumann’s faith in the viability of full-ceramic implants. Neodent will have a limited market release in the first quarter of 2018, with a global distribution expected by the fourth quarter of that year.

Straumann is located at Booth G080–K089 in Hall 4.2 at IDS, and the travelling Straumann Truck is in the same hall.
