This month, the Straumann Campus is offering webinars on dental implant therapy on 6, 13 and 28 May, as well as two online symposia on immediate implant treatment from 6 to 8 May and on 20 May. On each of the days, Straumann will stream a variety of webinars that offer an introduction to the topic as well as detailed treatment options.

Dr Adam Hamilton is an instructor in restorative dentistry and biomaterials sciences at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) in the US and maintains an active practice focusing on comprehensive oral rehabilitation with conventional prosthodontic and implant treatment within the Harvard Dental Center at HSDM. His webinar will provide an overview of the technologies which can be integrated into the digital implant workflow. Hamilton will discuss the potential of virtual implant treatment planning for the surgical and restorative implant practitioner and present new CAD/CAM-guided surgery techniques.

The webinar, titled “Application of digital workflow in daily practice”, will be broadcast live on Wednesday, 6 May, at 4 p.m. CEST.

How to manage soft tissue around dental implants

According to Dr Martina Stefanini, soft-tissue plastic surgical procedures and bilaminar techniques can successfully be used in combination with a pre- and post-surgical prosthetic approach to increase the volume of the interdental soft tissue in order to treat buccal gingival recessions and soft-tissue dehiscence around dental implants. Stefanini is a junior assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences at the University of Bologna in Italy. Viewers of her webinar will learn how to perform mucogingival surgery for soft-tissue dehiscence coverage around implants and the surgical procedure combining transmucosal implant placement and simultaneous subgingival connective tissue grafting in the anterior. In addition, Stefanini will describe a submerged healing surgical technique for interproximal tissue regrowth.

Stefanini’s webinar, titled “Effective soft tissue management around dental implants”, will be broadcast live on Wednesday, 13 May, at 3 p.m. CEST.

Implant placement on a smaller scale

This webinar will cover several topics related to reduced-diameter implants, including historical perspectives, implant biomaterials, principles of placement and restorative concepts.

According to the speakers, Drs Joan Pi-Anfruns and David Lipton, the information provided will be beneficial for those seeking professional structured training in implant dentistry. Pi-Anfruns is a full-time assistant clinical professor in the divisions of Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences and Constitutive and Regenerative Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry, and Lipton is in full-time practice in Michigan in the US. The main learning objectives for dental professionals are to become familiar with the instruments, materials and products necessary for placement of reduced-diameter implants, to learn different applications for the placement and restoration of these implants, and to learn how to incorporate digital dentistry for this product group.

Dental professionals can watch the webinar, titled “The little implant that could…”, live on Thursday, 28 May, at 1 a.m. CEST.

All about immediate implant placement

The Straumann 2020 VIRTUAL Immediacy Symposium will present ten webinars from 6 to 8 May. According to the company, immediate implant placement results in higher patient comfort and acceptance through fewer surgical interventions and shorter treatment cycles. This means increased efficiency and profitability by reducing chair time, as well as enhanced patient satisfaction and the possibility of more business opportunities for the clinician. From innovations in implant design for immediate implant therapies to immediate treatment protocols for edentulous maxillae and the digital workflow in immediate implant situations, the symposium will cover all facets of immediate implant therapy. In addition, it will be discussed what dental practice will look like in post-COVID-19 times.

Like to know more?

Dental professionals who want to further deepen their knowledge of immediate implant placement have the opportunity to attend the online Immediacy Essentials Symposium on 20 May. In four webinars, viewers can discover an end-to-end education solution for incorporating immediate treatment protocols in their practices. Topics include decision-making for immediate restoration in edentulous patients and posterior restorations in complicated cases. Straumann invites dental professionals to discover innovations in design, technology, materials, software, processes and protocols that open up new opportunities.

Attendance of all webinars is free of charge after easy registration online on the Straumann Campus. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit for each webinar by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
